Domestic Rewire

Rewiring a house involves two stages: the "first fix" and the "second fix". The first fix involves removing and replacing the existing wiring with a new, safety-approved version. Second fix involves fitting sockets and light accessories as below.

Consumer Unit Update

Installing a new consumer unit provides several benefits, including: increased safety through features like RCBO protection, improved circuit identification, better compliance with regulations, enhanced capacity to handle modern appliances, surge protection, reduced fire risk, and overall peace of mind by knowing your electrical system is up-to-date; essentially, a modern consumer unit offers better safety, efficiency, and functionality compared to an older one.

Notifiable Work

You need to inform building control when fitting new circuits in domestic installations because it is considered "notifiable work" under Part P of the Building Regulations. This aims to ensure electrical safety in homes by requiring that all new electrical installations and significant alterations comply with specific standards. Qualified electricians carry out the work; essentially, this is to protect homeowners from potential electrical hazards caused by improper installation of new circuits.
